Dear Students,
Today we discussed what it is to be brave or courageous. We learned there are many ways to show courage - it's not just about physical actions. Using some of our new words and phrases from the 'Word Wall' give us an example of bravery. Remember courage can be about small things like trying something new! Please write in complete sentences and indicate what type of bravery was displayed. Make sure it is clear who your example is about.

ReplyDeleteBeing brave is like doing things that you are afraid to do. My horse Poune moved from Silve's barn to our barn,she was really brave. Poune showed her bravery by staying calm. But now she is going back to her old home for a little while and I get to go visit her. NL
ReplyDeleteMy brother showed a lot of courage when he was learning how to use his feet and peddle on his bike. He kept trying and trying until he could peddle backwards but still not frontwards. So he tried some more and now he can ride and peddle his bike all by himself!
ReplyDeleteMay-Bird in "May-Bird Warrior Princess" shows bravery by fighting againts the evil Bo Cleevil with her friends. Even though she knows she won't win. She tries and she might not make it...but she still goes on.

I think that my uncle shows bravery by driving a tank in the Canadian Army. He drove his tank during
ReplyDeletethe war in Afghanistan. He drove in the huge conflict with laser bolts striking down on his tank. But he came back alive and healthy.
In a book a read this year a character named Annemarie and her family were helping a Jewish family because the German soldiers were trying to get rid of Jewish people. Annemarie had a friend who was Jewish and if she got caught helping her friend she would be sent to jail. They still helped her anyway. It was brave to risk her life.

In a book that I read, there was a little boy named Willy. He showed courage by racing against the best racing man with his dog sled! He had to this because he needed more money to save his farm! When the day came he just raced against him and he just had one dog to race with! At the end he won, so now he had more money to save his farm! L.L
ReplyDeleteYesterday when I was watching t.v I saw a guy who showed bravery. He had a goal, and he was determined to reach it. He was a guy who rode a motorcycle and when I saw him racing something terrible happened. He was riding around the corner and someone cut him off, he went flying off the side and fell hard. At that moment I was frozen in place but all he thought about was continuing the race. Later on in his life he continued to race and he ended up being one of the best riders I have ever seen! He showed braver by continuing to race even though he was hurt.
ReplyDeleteMy sister Kelsey and I were playing inside the house and my sister ran into the corner and hit her head on the wall. Then she had to go to the hospital. She was brave because she didn't cry at the hospital and she was only five.
ReplyDeleteI showed courage when the power was out and my sisters were at their friends house for a sleep over. So it was just my mom, dad and I but the candles were in the basement. It was dark and I was afraid of the dark but I conquered my fear and went in the basement and got the candles.

Me, Lydia! I was really brave and courageous when this happened, my dad's friend's parents came to see us but at that time I was younger!!! I had to go see them but I was really shy too!!! My brother, my sister and I were hiding in back of our sofa. Then my dad and mom kept saying "Come and see Dado's parents". Dado is my dad's friend. So then we went to see them with a really red face. I went first. They put us on their lap and I was almost crying because I was so shy!!! After I told my mom I had been shy but she said it's done. "Fewfffff AT LEAST THEY DIDN'T STAY MUCH LONGER" I told myself!!!
ReplyDeleteOne time when I was 6 years old, I was scared of the doctor. I was scared because my brother told me that the doctor had big teeth and big big claws. I was scared but I went to the doctorès anyway. It wasn't that bad.
ReplyDeleteMe, Griffon,I showed courage when I first started hockey because I could not skate. My team would skate the whole rink back and forth and every time we went back and forth I would be the last one to the other side. I wanted to quit but I did not. Even though I knew some players were laughing at me I still kept trying. Now I can skate great.

My mom told me to sign up for piano lessons. So I did from grade one to grade three. The first time I went on stage was so scaery that I wanted to run!!!!! But since I was on stage I guessed I could get it over with. So I did. I made some mistakes at first but I kept on going. At the end I felt good. I also got flowers and gifts from my family.

ReplyDeleteThe courage I learned that if you're a goalie in the NHL you have to have the courage to stop a puck! Like Carey Price, he has courage because he is a goalie in the NHL! He is good!

The first time on the ice for me was a nightmare. I tried and tried to skate, but I kept on falling and standing back up again. Now I am playing hockey again.

I would to go to the farm to be a cowboy. My name would be cowboy Nathaniel. I would ride on a brown horse his name is Laster, he is a boy. I round up horses with my lasso. Being a cowboy is hardwork but I am brave!

My friend Rebecca was at my house and we went riding. The horse bucked her off and my mom said

I know what courage is, like when my friend Rebecca was bucked off a pony. She was scared to death. But she didn't want to go back on the pony again but even though she was very scared she still got back up. When she did this she was putting her own life in risk to be bucked off again so she was being very brave. She was standing up to the pony to say that she was not scared and that she would go back up.

One day I read a book that was about a little girl and an older boy. The older boy said some mean things to the little girl and she cried when he kept saying mean things. The next day the girl saw him again, and he started it again. This time she said "STOP!" That was brave of her to stand up to this bully.
ReplyDeleteThere was one summer that I think I was brave. My fiend's toy pig was stuck in a tree. I cut my knee but got it down from the tree eventually. I kept on going evn if I was hurt.
ReplyDeleteCarey price was brave to play on the same team as Patrick Roy and Jacques Plante. It is courageous for Carey price to play goaltender on the Montreal Canadiens team. It is scary to stop the pucks.

I showed courage when I was a baby. It was winter and there was slippery cold ice my dad put me on my horse Shadow. We went to take a ride in the middle of the woods, the horse turned and then he thought he saw a wild cat or something like that. So he jumped and put his front legs in the air. My dad said"stop boy stop"but he did not stop so I fell on the ice. The next time we went to see him we took a ride and even if I fell I continued.
ReplyDeleteIt is an character from a story book that is brave to me, she is Anne-Marie. She showed courage by acting like a silly little girl when delivering a package to give to her Uncle Henrick. She was stopped by the soldiers but she got away from them.

I learned that being brave is not really hard. I can tell the truth to somebody. You should never lie to somebody.
ReplyDeleteI think my sister showed bravery when she got her new bike. We came to a steep hill and she didn't want to ride down it. Finally she went down the hill without hitting the brakes. We were all happy that she knew how to ride her bike. So now she can go riding anytime with us, anytime at all.
ReplyDeleteIn a book series I read, a man named Lief shows all kinds of courage. He saves some people, he has saved his friends many times. He also risks his life for an entire city. He deals with different scary things but he still overcomes his fears. That's how he is courageous.
ReplyDeleteMy dad went to Africa to do dig a well. I found that is brave because the country it was at war. He had to stay in a house for 5 days in order to stay safe. He is a brave man to have stayed there.
ReplyDeleteI find my brother Paul showed courage when he started high school. The first day he was nervous but when he got home he said it was awesome and he loved it! This kind of courage was getting over your fears.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a lot of courage to go to the dentist because I thought that I would have cavities. But I was happy because I didn't have any have any! My mom was proud of me and we went to Subway.
ReplyDeleteI was brave when I went on the roller coaster called the Boomerang! It is filled with loops and you go backwards on it. It's scary! I was willing to go on it even though it looked scary!

ReplyDeleteAt the Ayers Cliff fair there was a ride that was like a Ferris Wheel but the carts would flip over. It was scary and I was too scared to go on at first. When I got to the gate I was so scared that I was about to run away. But I didn't run away. It was fun in the end.
ReplyDeleteI read about a man named the Invisible Man. He bullied people because he was invisible so no one could stop him. At the end a girl fell off a cliff and the invisible man jumped off the cliff to save her. When he hit the ground the girl landed on the invisible man and she lived and the invisible man died. He risked his life for hers.
